These herb cubes are easy to make and super convenient to have on hand, you can just pop one in the skillet or pan for cooking, and they’re especially helpful in the winter season when fresh herbs are unavailable.

You just add your herbs of choice to the ice cube trays in whatever combinations you choose, or even smaller portions of just single herbs, this is all made to preference and what you use the most to cook with. I use all sorts of combos and the two pictured below were made with Italian Herbs like Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme, Marjoram, and Basil and then covered with Olive Oil. And the second batch was made with Pineapple Sage and Coconut Oil, which I use for frying salmon, or bbq pan chicken, and things like that.

Once your herbs are packed in, pour your oil over top, give them a little poke with a knife to release all air bubbles, and then freeze. Let freeze until completely solid, release from the molds, and immediately put in a gallon ziplock bag, for storage and refreeze. Keep in mind that the temperature of your hand will start to melt the oil, so handling them too much could be an issue. Once they’re frozen they will last until you use them. Close the bag as airtight as possible as not to cause freezer burn. When ready to use just pop right in the skillet or pan, and enjoy!
