Raising Backyard Livestock

I decided to do this page category based only on the fact that we are on such a small urban plot, and because of that we face many trials and tribulations keeping our livestock safe, and under control. First and foremost check your local county’s extension office website for any ordinances and regulations in your area, even if you don’t care to abide by them, it’s always beneficial to know what you’re up against. Thankfully we are in a part of the city where our livestock is welcome! Many of our fellow community neighbors have not just chickens but goats, and pigs and there are even a few horses when you get down along the river. I am so grateful and thankful that it’s not an issue to have our hens, bees and rabbits, but we certainly built our homestead and garden around their lifestyle and necessities.
